Adventure travel is hot! More and more people are looking for experiences that push them out of their comfort zones. People want to be challenged more, feel more, be more surprised! Of course a relaxed beach holiday is nice as well, especially if you live in a cold and wet country like myself, but those holidays don't really stick to your memory. The more you have pushed yourself physically or the more psychological boundaries you have stretched (think of wild camping on your own in the mountains or dealing with a giant spider in your kayak), the more rewarding and life changing those travels become. At least they do for me! To find my next adventure I always keep scrolling through the internet looking for something that makes my heart miss a beat. Just as in life, I like to give back when I take. So this site will be my (small) contribution to the adventure loving crowd out here on the web. Hopefully it sparks some inspiration for your journey as well!
In the 30 years of hiking and lately also kayaking across the globe, I found out that a good preparation is key to a great experience. Good preparation includes finding the right travel gear for your trip. You will encounter enough challenges already during your trip, no need to add a leaking tent or not working gas stove! Over the years we have decided to start developing some travel gear ourselves like tents, gas stoves and chairs so we could optimize the characteristics we thought were important. For example a free standing tent (no ropes necessary) to set up at the rocky river sides of the rain forest of Suriname. Plus an opening at each side of the tent so we didn't need to crawl over each other when going to the "toilet" in the middle of the night.
